ConEmu portable

ConEmu is a super handy console application.
The developer even offers a PortableApps version for download (https://conemu.github.io/en/VersionComparison.html#portableapps-com) so why isn't it available in the list of PortableApps.com? It would be nice to update it in the same way as all the other portable apps I am using.

NSIS Portable 3.0 Dev Test 1

I've packaged up NSIS 3.0 with the appropriate plugins for both ANSI launchers (Google Chrome) as well as Unicode launchers (Firefox) and apps (PA.c Updater, etc). The reason for the dev test is some additional functionality in the NSISPortable.exe launcher.

NSIS 3 is the first official release that is no longer ANSI only. Previously, PortableApps.com, Mozilla and others used a fork of NSIS called NSIS-Unicode to properly build multi-lingual installers for modern Windows since NSIS proper couldn't. Now, NSIS can compile to both ANSI and Unicode. It does, however, need updated code to know which. Specifically, a build setting "Unicode true" will set it to Unicode mode within the NSI script.

If you pass an NSI script to be compiled directly to NSISPortable.exe, it will check to ensure you have Unicode set to either true or false before passing it on. If you don't, it will warn you and allow you to set it either temporarily or permanently along with setting whether to enable high DPI mode on Windows 10. There can be some problems with this automated method and they are presented to the user as they build a script.

PortableApps.com Application Template 3.4 Dev Test 1 (with default launcher included)

I'm testing a new style of PortableApps.com Application Template for use with the PortableApps.com Launcher and Installer. The current 2.4 release is just the barebones file structure but includes no example config files. This Dev Test is of a complete template with config files and a default launcher along with a stub EXE so you can be sure it works by default.

The configuration is setup with an AppID of AppNamePortable, so it uses AppNamePortable.exe as the default launcher and AppNamePortable.ini as its configuration file. There are default settings in the INIs for handling config files that exist locally, config directories that exist locally, config files that move between Data and App, config directories that move between Data and App, and registry key config settings. The necessary lines to handling the moving and backup/restore of local settings as well as portablization of both a standard config file and a .reg file are all included and working for an example app of AppName and ExamplePublisher. The files are all fully commented and a how to txt file is included in the base directory. You can start up just by loading an app without even needing to recompile AppNamePortable.exe. When you're ready to release, instructions for that are included as well.

Download PortableApps.com Application Template 3.4 Dev Test 1

Note that I'm still debating splitting this full version out and doing it along with lighter versions based on just registry and one of just files.

Please test this out, look for any errors, and provide feedback. Suggestions for this particular format are appreciated as well. If we do an automated builder based on interactive Q&A, that will be a separate process from this one (and much more complicated), so please no suggestions along those lines for right now.

Thanks!

MAME Portable 0.180 Dev Test 1

Application: MAME
Category: Games
Description: From the publisher's website:

MAME originally stood for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator.

MAME's purpose is to preserve decades of software history. As electronic technology continues to rush forward, MAME prevents this important "vintage" software from being lost and forgotten. This is achieved by documenting the hardware and how it functions. The source code to MAME serves as this documentation. The fact that the software is usable serves primarily to validate the accuracy of the documentation (how else can you prove that you have recreated the hardware faithfully?). Over time, MAME absorbed the sister-project MESS (Multi Emulator Super System), so MAME now documents a wide variety of (mostly vintage) computers, video game consoles and calculators, in addition to the arcade video games that were its initial focus.

Download MAME Portable 0.180 Dev Test 1 (82.0MB download / 401MB installed)
(MD5: 54a8f5dee51bf447136a21dba2963cf5)

Note: This program requires ROMs of the machines it emulates to work correctly. Please do not discuss, ask, or imply ways of obtaining ROMs illegally. If I notice any such activity, I will actively attempt to have you removed from the site. Thank you for your cooperation.

Note: Additional files that can be used with this program can inflate the size of the application massively. The total size of a complete installation can reach >100 GB.

Note: This is a loose continuation of both mjashby's MAME Portable and my own QMC2 Portable.

no$psx (nocashpsx) Portable 1.9 Dev Test 1

Application: no$psx
Category: Games
Description: From the publisher's website:

The Program is intended to work out-of-the-box. There is no need for specific windows versions, special video drivers, obscure plug-ins, virtual CDROM drives, system BIOS, or tweaked per-game configurations.
The Emulation should be complete with all hardware features fully implemented and working, though as by now it wasn't tested with too many games, so there may be still some problems with other games (bug reports are welcome).
The BIOS is emulated via a BIOS-clone, which is free and faster than the original PSX-BIOS. There may be still some compatibilty issues (especially as most PSX games are applying patches to the original BIOS; the BIOS clone is reproducing known patches, but may fail on unknown ones). In case of problems, please use a copy of the original BIOS (with filename PSX-BIOS.ROM in no$psx folder), and please let me know if that is fixing problems with any games.
CDROMs are supported via complete disk images (in .CCD+IMG, .CDI, .CUE+BIN, .MDS+MDF, or .NRG format), via single-track images (.ISO files), or as raw executables (.EXE files). Decompressing .ECM and .CDZ files is supported. Subchannel data (for libcrypt'ed games) can be read from .SBI, .M3S, .SUB, .MDF files. Reading from real CDROM drives is also supported, but does require wnaspi32.dll (which appears to be a problem on WinNT/Win2K and higher).
Minimum Requirements are around 1-2 GHz on a Pentium 3, which is maybe fast or maybe not so fast (older PSX emulators are said to be working on 200MHz computers, on the other hand, I got told that no$psx is much faster than those old emulators... I've no clue how that is possible).
Pocketstation is emulated as part of no$psx v2.7 and up (the pocketstation is a PSX memory card with LCD screen; emulated in no$psx because GBA and pocketstation are both based on ARM processors).

SourceForge project page

Download no$psx Portable 1.9 Dev Test 1 (960KB+148KB download / 1.25MB installed)
(MD5: 9760b7a4065abc8fe5e55f45bed6b88e)

Note: This is an online installer. Since actual license information is unknown, the launcher download includes no program files and therefore should be okay to distribute through SourceForge still. Please do not talk about or ask how to obtain illegal ROM files below, I will actively attempt to have you dismissed from this site if you do.

Optional: If you want to use your own external BIOS files, place them in Data\configs and they will be moved accordingly. The list of recognized BIOS files are as follows: PSX-BIOS.ROM (all versions must be renamed to this to be used).

RSSOwl Portable 2.2.1 Dev Test 1

Application: RSSOwl
Category: Internet
Description: From the publisher's website:
What is RSSOwl?
Applications that collect data from RSS-compliant sites are called RSS readers or "aggregators." RSSOwl is such an application. RSSOwl lets you gather, organize, update, and store information from any compliant source in a convenient, easy to use interface, save selected information in various formats for offline viewing and sharing, and much more. It's easy to configure and the best of all: It's platform-independent.

Learn more about RSSOwl's stunning features!

And what's new in 2.0?
RSSOwl 2.0 is the next major release with a lot of new and exciting features. The idea to work on a completely new RSSOwl was born back in Summer 2005. At that time it became clear to me that it was very hard to catch up with the features of other readers without redesigning everything. I teamed up with another developer (Ismael) to work on RSSOwl 2 from scratch. Our main goal is to provide a newsreader that is powerful, easy to extend and easy to use. We chose the Eclipse Rich Client Platform as framework and db4o as powerful database to store all the news. In combination with the well-known full-text search engine Lucene, we are able to give you the best experience of reading, managing and seeing through all your news.

What is RSS?
RSS ("Really Simple Syndication" or "Rich Site Summary") is a document specification that gives users the power to collect and organize Web-based news and information in a more efficient manner.

Why "Owl"?
The owl is a traditional symbol of wisdom, and a quiet, efficient hunter. You'll find RSSOwl's "big eyes" a big help when scanning the Web's vast array of RSS sources.

(MD5: 424439451bd0d69dda46dbbd2ec5a065)

Optional: You can use external browsers with RSSOwl, including portable ones. Because of how settings are saved, you may have to update this if paths change. If you don't choose an external browser, the launcher automatically cleans up after the cookies and tempfiles generated when it uses Internet Explorer.

I'm wondering if some Windows 7 and Vista users can try it out. It's working for my on Windows 8 and Windows 10, but on Windows 7 it forces Windows to the Basic theme (Aero disabled) and then crashes on launch in my virtual machine.
